Buddha and Jesus: The Movie

聖☆お兄さん at the pool

As readers know, I often enjoy a certain Japanese manga called 聖☆おにいさん or “Saintly Young Men” in English. This is a comedy featuring Jesus and the Buddha taking an extended vacation, living in the suburbs of Tokyo, specifically Tachikawa which is on the same train line my wife’s family lives on (Nambu Line).

Recently my wife found an article on Yahoo JP that said that they were going to make a live-action movie of this comic. There’s a post on the Morning KC anga site too. I was really excited to see this. I seem to have good taste in manga or something. Each series I read seems to become popular enough to become a live-action movie. ;-p

It will be pretty funny to see both Jesus and the Buddha on the big-screen like this, especially in a light-hearted comedy. I can’t wait. :) The movie for 宇宙兄弟 (space brothers) turned out to be a lot better than I expected (my wife and I both got a little choked up), so I am looking forward to this movie as well.

Stay tuned!
