I’ve been re-reading the novel Dune lately and found this excellent quote:
She had quoted a Bene Gesserit proverb to him: “When religion and politics ride in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movements become headlong—faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thought of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it is too late.”
A good reminder for the ages.
