While Japan is famous for its cherry blossoms, Seattle and Washington State are famous for their Tulip Festival. Washington State has a lot of immigrant communities, and in the case of the Skagit Valley, many immigrants were from the Netherlands. So, a lot of families there have been growing tulips for generations. Tulips were so popular in the early 1600’s in the Netherlands, a single bulb could cost a year’s income.
Anyhow, my wife and I like to go up to the Tulip Festival every year, and my 6-year old daughter took some photos as well. Here are some of the photos she took. You can see the rest here.
If you are in Seattle or Washington State during April, I highly recommend the Tulip Festival. It’s well worth the visit. 🙂
