Credit Where Credit Is Due

This is just a quick post, but I wanted to share this article by the BBC about Pvt. Henry Johnson, and the Medal of Honor he finally earned almost 100 years later.

I wrote about the famous Harlem Hellfighters of World War I before, and as I mentioned in the article, Johnson had been a war-hero and saved his comrade during a night raid by German soldiers. Johnson fought off at least 12 soldiers by himself, and even when he ran out of ammunition, he kept fighting with his knife.

Yet, despite earning a Croix de Guerre in France, Johnson received no medal at all from the US military.

Finally, though, Pvt Johnson gets the recognition he deserves. 🙂

Congratulations Pvt Henry Johnson!
